Getting to Know Me

I was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, the child of immigrants, with Hausa, Dendi, and Tchamba heritage. At the age of sixteen, I moved to the United States and have since called California my home. This journey has been one of discovery, learning, and growth.

My academic journey saw me earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry, and then going on to receive a Master of Science degree in Biological Sciences. My passion for neuroscience led me to pursue a career in research, where I focused on investigating disease models for potential targeted therapeutics using analytical pathology and image analysis. You can find some of my published works here. Currently, I work as an Image Analysis Scientist.

Outside of work, I find solace in writing, reading, photography, spending time with loved ones, and deepening my understanding of God, faith, and the Qur’an. I find comfort in solitude and often reflect on life experiences, faith, and my personal relationship with God. This space serves as an archive of my thoughts, work, and reflections.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope that through sharing, we can learn from each other, grow together, and deepen our understanding of the world around us and our place in it.

With A Smile, Ibtisam
