That Which Never Changes

August 31, 2023

When it feels like you or your life is falling apart, you seek for something to stay the same. That one thing you’re grateful for, that never changes, something to hold you together, that thing that you find solace in, that thing that gives you the feeling that everything will be okay. Alhamdulilah for me, it is the Qur’an.

Whenever I find myself feeling low, overwhelmed by my worries, anxious about my future & experiencing a dip in my iman, there’s nothing that brings me peace and gathers me together more than the Qur’an.

SubhanAllah how relevant & universal the Qur’an is. I always find it speaking to me and meeting me where I am. The gems are ever so infinite. No matter how many times I read an ayah I always find a new perspective depending on the state of my life & how I come to it.

As I recite, desperately seeking solace, I find verses that make me cry, then the ones that make me smile, and the ones that make my heart swell, overwhelmed by the weight of it’s awe of the greatness of Allah. In the Qur’an I find comfort, hope, reassurance and healing.

I’ve always made du’a that Allah grants me love of the Qur’an, make it my companion & me its companion. Alhamdulilah if there’s one thing I am forever grateful to Allah for, it is that He never tests me with my faith or the Qur’an. No matter what I was going through in life, it always led me back to Him and the Qur’an.

My faith and the Qur’an have always been my anchor - Alhamdulilah. I pray that Al-Mu’min, The Source & Giver of Faith, Security and Tranquility continues to bestow it upon me. I pray may Al-Hafīdh, The Preserver & Protector preserve my faith in Him & love for the Qur’an - Amin ya Rabb.

And as always & In sha Allah for as long as He ﷻ grants me life, when my chest feels tight and my heart feels constricted, I will go to that which never changes - The Qur’an.

With love, Ibtisam
